Dissociation Disorders

Dissociation Disorders often develop to cope with early childhood traumas.  It is an experience of being disconnected from one’s thoughts, memories, behaviors and the present moment.  We all dissociate at times, when we drive in the car or daydream.  It becomes problematic when we spend more time outside ourselves and less time enjoying life.  Sometimes it can create a feeling of depersonalization or derealization, not feeling you are the person you are or not feeling real in your environment.
